New York Times and NBC collaborate on election coverage

The New York Times is teaming up with NBC News/MSNBC.com for the coverage of the 2008 U.S. presidential election.

As part of the collaboration, MSNBC.com will release national political coverage from NYTimes.com, while the Times will have access to NBC's political news video for publishing and streaming on NYTimes.com in return.

Moreover, the Times will provide NBC News the first access to breaking news and reporting on the campaign for both on-air and online platforms, while NBC News will offer the Times the first access to breaking news from NBC journalists.

"This collaboration gives our organizations the ability to cover all the bases," said Mark Lukasiewicz, vice president of Digital Media for NBC News.

The two news outlets combined reach over 45 million people, said Vivian Schiller, senior vice president and general manager of NYTimes.com.
