The media group Lagardère has agreed to sell its regional daily newspaper group in southern France to Hersant Media Group for 160 million euro, Lagardère Group executives announced Monday.

The companies began negotiating the deal July 19. Top titles in the newspaper group include La Provence, Nice Matin, Var Matin, Corse Matin and Marseille Plus.

The Nice Matin and La Provence Works Councils have been informed and consulted about the sale, which will be complete once French anti-trust authorities approve it, Lagardère stated in a press release.

Lagardère's regional dailies in southern France pulled in revenues of 222 million euro and recurring operating income of 3 million euro last year, the group has stated.
