Newspaper Innovation, the Web site dedicated to information on free dailies around the world, reported today that Seoul's eighth free daily focuses on economics.
Launched in July, IlIlKyungJe (the Daily Economic), has a circulation of about 100,000.
Seoul added its seventh free daily in May, an evening paper called The City.
Aside from the printed version of the newspaper and the Web site, The City has gone completely multi-media, forming an alliance with webcaster Pandora TV, which has 786,000 unique daily users. The partnership allows the paper to enter into online broadcasting in order to appear on television screens in the Seoul Metro system. The alliance between Pandora TV and Mtube, the TV operator in the subway, is what allows The City to be shown on screens to commuters.
The city's sixth free daily, the Daily NoCutNews, a morning paper, was launched in November of last year. Other dailies published in the city include Metro, Daily Focus, Sports Hankook, AM7 and Daily Zoom, according to Newspaper Innovation.
