The Trinity Mirror will launch a free weekly business paper in Scotland, the first freesheet to be put out by the Daily Mirror's publisher.
The new weekly, Business 7, will be distributed to nearly 20,000 people every Friday morning.
Alasdair Northrop and Jonathan Russell have been appointed the new paper's editor-in-chief and editor.
Northrop is also editor of Trinity Mirror's Scotland business monthly, Insider magazine. His two titles will work closely together both editorially and commercially, according to the Guardian's report.
This new publication will target “work hard, play hard ambitious young business professionals,” and will have a Web site, business7.co.uk, that will include a daily business news update and a business blog.
Business 7 is “a great new initiative and a further example of our strategy to develop a multi platform business with an objective to extend both our audience and geographic reach," Sly Bailey, Trinity Mirror chief executive, is quoted as saying by MediaGuardian.
Business 7 will be launched by the business publishing division of the Scottish Daily Record & Sunday Mail. It will be distributed at major commuter points, such as railway stations, airports and desk drops.
Northrop said that "the key objective behind the launch of Business7 and Business7.co.uk is to reflect that dynamism (of the Scottish business community) through publishing highly relevant and appealing print plus online products to better serve this fast moving, quick thinking, high spending and very influential audience."
