Murdoch could buy Turkish media group

Rupert Murdoch's News Corp. is one of the potential buyers of the second largest media group in Turkey.

Regulators put the assets of Merkez Yayin Holding, which includes Sabah newspaper and ATV Television, up for sale this week at a price of $1.1 billion, seeking to make back losses at a failed bank.

News Corp. is one of about 10 companies that has expressed interested in buying the media group, according to the Turkish Daily News. Last year, the company bought one of Turkey's largest television broadcasters, Huzur Radyo TV A.S. (TGRT), for YTK 151 million ($116 million) and renamed it Fox.
