Divya Bhaskar launches afternoon daily

Indian newspaper Divya Bhaskar has launched the afternoon daily Gujarati tabloid DB Gold, with target readership of businessmen and women, industrialists and traders in Surat.

The tabloid's initial print run of 80,000 copies has only been circulated in Surat, but the Bhaskar Group has stated it expects circulation to reach one lakh, or 100,000, in the next few months, and four lakhs, or 400,000 in the near future, agencyfaqs has reported.

Divya Bhaskar plans to market the new tabloid through market surveys and hoardings.

DB Gold hit news stands last week, covers entertainment, crime, puzzles and fashion in 24 pages.

“We wanted a daily that would cater to the industry driven people of Surat. They are less busy during the afternoon, one to four p.m., and the tabloid is a good way to spend that time,” Ashwini Agarwal, state head of Gujarat, told agencyfaqs.
