The London Evening Standard's new electronic kiosks, launched Monday, will also include electronic screens attached to the vendor kiosks.

The kiosks display news headlines, sales messages from the Standard's new advertising campaign, “Know what London's thinking,” and a new cashless payment system called the Eros card, the Guardian reported.

But how people buy the paper isn't the only thing that has changed. The Standard has also made design and editorial changes to promote a more positive tone in news coverage, according to the Guardian.

The newspaper's vendors will also have new kiosks and wear branded uniforms.

The kiosks will operate on the Eros card, a cashless payment system in which cardholders can top-up their cards on the Internet, allowing them to touch the card to a pad on the kiosk instead of paying with cash. Beginning January 1, additional credit and debit cards will be able to use the Eros system, the Guardian reported.

The paper's new Web site, Standard.co.uk, was also recently launched. It focuses on opinion and news to compliment the paper's listings and entertainment site, Thisislondon.co.uk. Additionally, the Standard will launch a glossy guide to London's 1,000 most influential people, including those from business, fashion, finance, food, media, politics and retail, according to the Guardian.

“It will be a must-have list of the people that make London tick,” the paper said in a statement.
