A new English newspaper has launched Monday in Vietnam.
Thanh Nien Daily, published by Thanh Nien, aims to reach foreigners living in Vietnam, international organisations in the country and foreign travelers, Nguyen Quant Thong, the paper's deputy editor-in-chief, told Thanh Nien News.
More than 2.8 million foreign travellers visited the country in the first half of 2007, and 81,000 foreigners living and work there, which means the newspaper has a huge audience base to reach out to, he said.
The newspaper will carry news on politics, business, the stock market and travel in the same style as Thanh Nien.
Thanh Nien Daily will begin by publishing 10,000 copies, and may spread to Thailand and Singapore, where it has bureaus.
