Kenya's second full-colour daily hits newsstands

Just six months after Kenya's first full-colour newspaper, the Nairobi Star, rolled off the presses, the country's second full-colour paper, The Daily Metro, has begun circulation.

Nation Media Group, one of East Africa's top media groups, is publishing The Daily Metro, Biz-Community reported Tuesday.

Before the two colour papers began circulation, the Daily Nation and the East African Standard topped the newspaper market.

“Daily Metro will cover human interest in all its forms – including politics and business,” the publisher is quoted by Biz-Community as saying in a statement. “ Daily Metro comes to engage, not bore readers.”

The new editions are aiming to give readers a break from other newspapers, which focus more on hard news.

The Nairobi Star is 32-pages and is published six times a week. The Daily Metro began circulation Sept. 26. It is also 32 pages and is published five times a week.
