ABC to restructure for multi-platform media

Official industry auditor ABC will restructure in an effort to better monitor the changing multi-platform media industry, Media Week has reported.

Account teams managing print-based, traditional media, will now also be responsible for all ABC platforms, especially online.

The independent body's ABCe team, which is responsible for electronic figures, will focus only on new media specialist clients. New media is advertising's fastest-growing sector, in which “standards and accountability are new and developing,” Media Week reported Wednesday.

This is the first time top media buying agencies will be assigned to an account handling team, a move aimed to ensure buyers stay informed on accountability and reporting issues. Additionally, audit functions will also be centralised.
