Newspaper publisher Journal Register Co.'s current chairman and chief executive, Robert Jelenic, will resign, effective Nov. 1. James Hall will take his place.
Hall, 60, has been the company's acting CEO since mid-June, when Jelenic, 57, took a leave of absence to undergo treatment for cancer.
Jelenic has been in the newspaper business for 30 years. He started his career in business with Arthur Anderson in Toronto, and spent 12 years with the Toronto Sun Publishing Corp., Reuters reported.
Hall was previously the senior vice president and chief investment officer of Working Ventures Canadian Fund Inc. He has also been a senior staff member at Citicorp and Lloyds Bank Canada.
