Zurnal24 Slovenia's highest circulated daily

Just six weeks after its launch, free daily Zurnal24 has become the most highly circulated newspaper in Slovenia.

Zurnal24's total circulation is now more than 100,000, while paid newspapers Slovenske Novice and Dolenjska are in second and third places, with circulations of 90,000 and 70,000, respectively, Newspaper Innovation reported Tuesday.

The paper launched in the capital city of Ljubljana, then spread to four more markets in Gorenjska, Stajerska, Primorska and Dolenjska.

The paper is available in boxes, in more than 300 buses and from hawkers in 20 cities throughout Slovenia. Zurnal24 has 60 journalists working on print editions, and 20 online journalists. It is published by Austria-based Styria Medien AG, Newspaper Innovation reported.

Styria will relaunch the weekly žurnal as the daily's weekend edition, distributing 290,000 copies by mail to households beginning Saturday.

Television advertisements one and two for Zurnal24 can be viewed on YouTube.
