OK! magazine will launch a German-language version set to debut in Germany, Austria and German-speaking areas of Switzerland in the first half of 2008.
The new edition will be the magazine's fourteenth international edition in three years.
A new company, OK! Verlag GmbH will launch the magazine. The company is a joint venture between the Klambt Group, one of Germany's oldest publishing companies, and OK's publisher Northern & Shell, MediaGuardian reported Friday.
“The German celebrity magazine market is showing very strong growth at the moment and having a German edition has long been an ambition of ours,” Christian Toksvig, Northern & Shell's international operations director, told MediaGuardian. “Klambt has successfully launched a new title this category in 2006 and has the necessary local knowhow to make the OK! launch work.”
The Klambt Group publishes more than 50 magazine titles in German. OK! is estimated to have more than 30 million readers around the world, and will appear in 16 countries once the German-language edition is launched.
