Taking the next step in integrating its business desk, the Telegraph Media Group's business team will now work across The Daily Telegraph, The Sunday Telegraph and the newspaper's Web site, Telegraph.co.uk.
Although writers for both titles will be spread throughout the week, City sections for the two print versions will maintain their own separate identities.
As part of the restructuring, Richard Fletcher has been promoted to executive editor of business, from deputy City editor, and will be in charge of coordination and planning for the three titles, Brand Republic reported Friday.
Damian Reece will continue to head up the business sections for all three platforms, and said that integrating the three has already “paid huge dividends” for both journalists and the Telegraph Media Group.
“It has allowed us to focus resources on the higher growth areas of our business while maintaining and adding to the success of others,” he said, according to MediaGuardian. “Those areas of the business that have pursued an integrated strategy have seen impressive growth.”
It was reported earlier this week that Mark Kleinman was appointed City editor for The Sunday Telegraph, while Louise Armistead was recently appointed deputy City editor. Richard Blackden has been promoted from digital City editor to City editor of The Daily Telegraph. His position will also be fully integrated with editing across the two print versions and the Web site.
Although some of the Telegraph's staff has expressed concern about increased workloads, the group is promoting integration as an opportunity for journalists to expand their audience and learn new multimedia skills, MediaGuardian reported.
