Rwanda newspaper switches to tri-weekly

Rwanda newspaper Izuba, The New Times Publications' sister Kinyarwanda newspaper, will become tri-weekly beginning Sunday.

The vernacular paper, launched on August 16, started as a bi-weekly. Izuba, which means “Sun” in Kinyarwanda, will now be published every Tuesday, Friday and Sunday.

According to New Times Managing Editor David Gusongoirye, Izuba has made positive impact among its readers, and the paper's staff “hope to do even better because the response from our readers is very impressive.”

Gusongoirye said the paper will increase its publishing frequency gradually from a Tri-weekly to eventually a daily next year.

Joseph Gaaga, Izuba's editor, said the paper distributes 2,000 copies, and the demand from the readers is still high.

He was quite optimistic that the paper would increase its circulation to cover the entire country, AllAfrica.com reported.
