Singapore's Chinese-language free paper, my paper, will become a bilingual daily from January with both Western and Oriental values.
Bilingual papers in Singapore usually have stories translated from sister publications, but my paper will have two distinct teams of journalists, one filing in English, the other Chinese.
Felix Soh, my paper consulting editor, said “readers can expect a uniquely blended paper covering the news 'from a fresh perspective.”
The new tabloid will have 50 editorial staff producing its 48 pages, which double the current 24.
The new daily, targeting working population aged 20 to 40, will feature English news, commentaries and analyses with Chinese articles focusing on lifestyle topics.
The publication will run from 180,000 to 250,000 copies and be distributed at subway and train stations, office buildings and coffee franchises. Some copies will be also home-delivered, AsiaMedia reported.
