New technology enrolls hotels into digital ad network

Hotels in the United States have been enrolled into a new revenue stream thanks to a new technology.

A new digital ad insertion technology to the hospitality industry recently launched in 25 hotels in Texas, Arizona and California. This new agreement, made by Superwire, a multimedia group that services interactive TV, telephone and broadband to hotel/recreation communities, is in partnership with Resort Media Group.

The deal provides eight to 16 channels of digital ad insertion on cable networks, such as ESPN, CNN and TBS, to hotel chains such as Holiday Inn and Radisson. The hotels will also market the ad insertion system to the top 1,500 spots in major U.S. cities.

Once deployed, Superwire will target local, regional and national ads to the leisure travel market. According to Richard Smith, chairman of Superwire, the programme will "create new, valuable advertising space in a market segment previously out of reach of our advertisers," MediaPost reported.

Cliff Hall, president of RMG, says that it will bring in "increased revenue" for the hotel trade with "minimal up-front investment."
