A new Web site is being launched to continue the reporting of a print newspaper that has been closed, a move that may be a first for an American newspaper, MediaPost reported Thursday.
The Kentucky Post was closed by U.S. publisher E.W. Scripps at the same time as its sister publication, The Cincinnati Post, was shut down. The new site, KYPost.com, will be hosted by a Scripps television property in Cincinnati, WCPO-TV, and will rely heavily on the station's video for online content.
“After considerable analysis, we determined that the next chapter in the long and successful story of the Post should be found on the Web,” said Rich Boehne, Scripps executive vice president and chief operating officer, according to MediaPost.
