Saigon Times Group debuts online edition

The Saigon Times Group last week unveiled its online edition, Thoi bao Kinh te Saigon Online, its latest vehicle to provide updated news and information, The Saigon Times Daily reported Friday.

The e-newspaper will focus on the economy, with a goal of serving as a two-way information link by using blogs and forums.

“We want to develop the e-newspaper into a multimedia tool for readers, especially businesspeople,” said Tran Minh Hung, deputy editor-in-chief of Saigon Times Group. Hung has been charged with heading up Thoi bao Kinh te Saigon Online, The Saigon Times Daily reported.

Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, chairwoman of the HCMC Central Propaganda and Education Committee, said told The Saigon Times Daily she hopes the e-newspaper will give economic experts, journalists and readers a forum to share ideas and information on socio-economic matters. The newspaper should also have a goal of supporting economic reform in Vietnam and contribute to economic integration, as well as supporting enterprises, helping to build a business circle and contributing to developing Vietnamese media, she said.

Thoi bao Kinh te Saigon Online is the Saigon Times Group's fifth publication, after Thoi bao Kinh te Saigon, The Saigon Times Weekly, The Saigon Times Daily and Thoi bao Vi tinh Saigon.
