Gambian journalists to train in print and electronic media

The Gambia Press Union will launch a 1.2 million dalasi (€38,541) project to train journalists in field reporting, online journalism and Web mastering, with trainers from Denmark facilitating.

GPU President Madi M.K. Ceesay announced the project Friday at the opening of the first week-long training course, according to an article posted on AllAfrica Monday.

Ceesay said technicians and editors will be trained as well as journalists. Project funding will partly come from funds generated from an Internet cafe and printing machine established by the GPU, according to AllAfrica.

Charles Camara, project coordinator, said the training is important for building up journalists' skills in Gambia.
