TMG buys Amsterdams Stadsblad

Telegraaf Media Group (TMG) has agreed to buy Argos Press' Amsterdams Stasblad, the publisher announced Friday, according to a Publicitas report Monday.

The acquisition concerns free weeklies Aalsmeerder Courant, Amstelveens Weekblad, Amsterdams Stadsblad, Diemer Courant, De Ronde Vener and Uithoornse Courant.

TMG publishes more than 80 free weeklies with a total circulation of more than 2.5 million in the western Netherlands. The newly acquired six free weeklies have a circulation of more than 500,000, which strengthens TMG's position in the Amsterdam area marketplace, Publicitas reported.

A company spokesperson declined to provide financial details about the deal between TMG and Argos Press, Thomson Financial reported Friday.

Other TMG titles include Spits, De Telegraaf, Autovisie and Elegance.
