Free daily Metro continues to have the highest circulation in Hungary, distributing 332,000 copies in the fourth quarter of 2007, Newspaper Innovation reported Tuesday.

The country's second highest circulated paper was paid daily Blikk, owned by Swiss publisher Ringier, which sold 227,000.

Paid paper Nepszabadsag, which was the best-selling Hungarian newspaper 10 years ago with a circulation of more than 260,000, had a circulation of 118,000 copies in 2007, according to Newspaper Innovation.

Competition is growing in the free daily arena in Budapest, with free titles Helyi Téma, Budapesti 7 Nap and Budapesti Piac all in circulation, Newspaper Innovation reported.
