Over 70 percent of UK online users never search on mobile Internet

More than 70 percent online users in the United Kingdom never use online search on the mobile devices, according to a survey conducted by Harris Interactive.

Seventy-one percent of UK Internet users said they have never tried mobile Internet. Another seven percent said they have tried only once, 12 percent use it once a fortnight or less, and one out of 10 said they use mobile online search on a weekly basis.

The survey, reported by eMarketer, also found a correlation between the usage of mobile Internet search and age – much more young users search on mobile Internet, compared with elder people.

Of online users between ages 16 and 24, only 47 percent have never searched online via mobile devices, and about 20 percent use it on a weekly basis. Among age group 35 to 44, nearly seven out of ten have never tried mobile Internet search, while only 11 percent use it at least once a week.

Online users aged above 55 are least likely to search on the mobile Internet – over 90 percent said they have never tried it, while merely two percent say they do so on a weekly basis, eMarketer reported.
