Internet to outrun TV as top ad medium in Korea

Internet to outrun TV as top ad medium in Korea

Online advertisements are going to beat television advertisements beginning next year, according to Daewoo Securities Co.

Internet advertisements are expected to increase by 36.8 percent in 2008 compared to last year, making up 19.5 percent of the advertisement market. If it keeps on growing, the number of online advertisements will exceed that of television by 2009, The Korea Herald reported.

According to Asia Media, the leading Korean Internet portals, such as NHN Corp. and Daum Communications Corp., are most likely to benefit from the online ad market growth.

NHN is well-known for its standardisation of the classified search system in Korea. Daum Communications is famous for its high number of visitors seeking user created content, Asia Media reported.
