Global mobile entertainment market has continued to prosper in recent years, and expected to reach US$38 billion by 2011, according to eMarketer.
In 2006, market revenue totaled $18.9 billion. Based on a prediction by Informa, it will grow more than double within five years to $38.1 billion in 2011.
In 2006, music was the biggest contributor to the market, with its revenue at nearly $7.4 billion. Images were ranked in the second place, and totaled $4.6 billion, while games and video also each brought in over $2.2 billion.
According to Informa's data, music will still have the lion's share in 2011– with its revenue over $13.6 billion. Games and video will outpace images, which is even in decline, in the second and the third spots. TV and gambling are also increasing fast, with over nine-folds and two-folds growth, eMarketer reported.
