Paid readership stable in Ireland

Readership of most paid newspapers has been stable for the past five years, Newspaper Innovation reported Tuesday.

In 2007, the Irish Independent continued its streak as the most read Irish newspaper, with 570,000 readers.

The Irish Times, Irish Daily Star, Evening Herald and Irish Sun all have more than 300,000 readers, according to Newspaper Innovation.

Numbers for the country's two free dailies, Metro and Herald AM, both of which launched in 2005, were not available. However, they began being audited by the National Readership Survey in January.
