Traffic to UK online video sites in February 2008 increased 178 percent versus the same period in 2007, according to Hitwise.
"The sheer volume of compelling content out there is clearly helping to accelerate this trend," Robin Goad, director of research at Hitwise, said.
The top 25 video sites made up 2.22 percent of all Internet traffic in the country, or one out of every 45 visits in February 2008, eMarketer reported.
The most popular video site was YouTube, which was also the 8th most visited Web site. It accounted for 69.3 percent of the total online video market in February.
In February, one out of every 40 online searches in the UK led to a visit to a video site, and one-third of the traffic to the top 25 video sites came from a search engine, according to eMarketer.
