In December 2006, Mobile Internet penetration already reached 70 percent in Italy, Germany, Spain, the UK and U.S. However, the actual usage was relatively lower, according to Online Publishers Association.
The mobile Internet penetration was in particular high in Italy, Germany, and Spain, which exceeded 80 percent. In the UK and U.S., the reach was over 70 percent, while in France it was only 64 percent.
However, the mobile Web was not fully utilised in those countries surveyed. The highest mobile Internet usage rate was in the UK, with 54 percent, while in U.S., Italy, Germany and Spain, it was only about 40 percent.
In France, the usage rate was rather lower, with merely 34 percent, according to OPA.
