Glasgow Herald creates multimedia editor position

The Glasgow Herald Group has recently created a job title of group multimedia editor, and has assigned John Young to the post, Journalism.co.uk reported Wednesday.

The former Evening Times photo editor will head up a team in charge of all “non-text products,” such as photographs, videos and podcasts for the Herald's three newspaper titles.

“We felt John was the man for the job because of his sense of future and innovation, his understanding of what is possible, and most importantly is balance of vision,” Tom Thompson, group managing editor, told Journalism.co.uk.

At the moment, the group has 24 ultra-local Web sites, and 12 more will launch as of next Monday.
