Journalism.co.uk launches press release service via Twitter

Journalism.co.uk launched a new press release distribution service through Twitter to mobile devices, the site reported Wednesday.

Journalists and bloggers can sign up to receive free SMS alerts to their mobile phones when a press release in their area of focus is published on Journalism.co.uk.

SMS messages are delivered through Twitter, a social networking service and a useful tool for journalists, Journalism.co.uk reported.

“Twitter is one of the fastest-growing phenomenons on the web at the moment, and our aim in adopting this service is to allow journalists the greatest possible flexibility in how they receive news leads, while at the same time ensuring maximum exposure for the press releases published on our site,” said John Thompson, publisher of Journalism.co.uk, according to the site.

Twitter users may also access messages directly from their computers.
