Fairfax Media launched Western Australia's first online-only newspaper Tuesday, Australian-Media.com.au reported.

Roy Fleming was appointed managing editor of the Perth-based site, WAtoday.com.au, and he will lead nine multimedia journalists, Editor & Publisher reported.

“As well as providing a new perspective on news, business, technology, sport, lifestyle and entertainment, WAtoday.com.au will give our readers a voice on issues that are important to them, through a range of forums and blogs,” Fairfax CEO David Kirk said in a statement, according to E&P.

The site will be perfect for advertisers looking to reach people in Western Australia, said Jack Matthews, Fairfax Digital CEO, Australian-Media.com.au reported.

“We know there is high demand from advertisers for WAtoday.com.au. Inventory has sold out for the launch and we are pleased to have the support of both national and local advertisers,” he said.
