ITV Local to compete with newspapers in online classifieds

UK television group ITV Local will go head-to-head with newspapers trying to make it in the online classifieds market by launching a new property area on ThinkProperty.com, part of Guardian News & Media, Brand Republic reported Tuesday

Beginning next month, the site will be a property search partner with ITV, which will also launch a co-branded site with utility advice site uSwitch.

Currently, ITV Local's property channel in the £4 billion London local classifieds ad market has just house projects videos and do-it-yourself advice, according to Brand Republic.

ITV will make commission from its utility advice site based on people changing bill providers on the site. Expanding ITV's online offerings is part of the group's strategy to make £150 million in online revenue by 2010.
