Sporting News will launch an online daily national sports newspaper July 23, to be called Sporting News Today, the group announced Tuesday.
The U.S. magazine will also reformat and redesign its Sporting News Magazine.
“We are convinced with these changes the 'new' Sporting News will be the ultimate multi-media destination for serious sports fans,” said Whitney Shaw, president of Sporting News, the magazine reported on its Web site.
The new digital newspaper will be delivered to registered users' e-mail addresses each morning, every day of the year. Sporting News Today will have no subscription fees, and will also offer archives, search, video, audio, live links, reader interaction and rich media for advertisers, according to Sporting News.
Contributors will include current and former athletes, such as U.S. football players Troy Aikman and John Elway, veteran sports writers such as John Feinstein and Roger Kahn and New York Yankees chairman Hank Steinbrenner.
