The overall ad expenditure in Netherlands was worth €3.87 billion in 2007, and is expected to reach €4.08 billion in 2009, according to data from VEA, the BBC and ZenithOptimedia, documented in World Press Trends 2007.
In Netherlands, newspapers beat other media with the biggest ad spending from 2007 to 2009, with television and magazines followed behind.
Newspapers, with the ad spending totaled €1.48 billion, or over 38 percent share in 2007, increase to €1.53 billion in 2009. However, its share dropped slightly to 37.4 percent.
Television ad spending is up from €975 million in 2007 to about €1.03 billion in 2009, as its share remains steady at about 25.2 percent, while Magazines grow from €814 million to €839 million, with its share slipped from 21 percent to 20.6 percent.
Internet advertising expenditure, on the other hand, was at €158 million in 2007, and is expected to total €218 million in 2009. Its share rises from four percent to 5.3 percent, according to World Press Trends 2007 released by World Association of Newspapers.
