The family-owned Mayo News has been put up for sale, and is believed to be asking more than €10 million, The Sunday Business Post reported on Sunday.
The Westport, Ireland-based newspaper has about 31 employees, who were informed of the impending sale in recent days.
John Feerick, general manager of the Mayo News, confirmed to The Sunday Business Post that the newspaper has been put up for sale. It is one of the few independently-owned regionals that remain in Ireland.
The Mayo News has a circulation of 10,569, according to ABC circulation data, and Dublin firm Raglan Capital will handle the sale. Buyers that may be interested include Independent News & Media, Thomas Crosbie Holdings and Celtic Media Group, according to The Sunday Business Post.
