Cox Newspapers launch mobile Web sites

Cox Newspapers Inc. on Tuesday launched 19 mobile Web sites in Texas, Ohio and Florida, TMCnet reported.

According to TMCnet, Cox Newspapers will partner with Quattro Wireless, a mobile services start-up, for the new site launch.

Quattro will help Cox Newspapers expand its reach to mobile audiences, and provide for efficient production of the local mobile sites and additional sales and revenue opportunities, according to Tonya Echols, executive director at Cox Newspapers.

The new sites include Statesman.com (Austin, Texas), PalmBeachPost.com (Palm Beach, Florida), DaytonDailyNews.com (Dayton, Ohio) and WacoTrib.com (Waco, Texas), which the company aims to provide more access to breaking local and national news, as well as search for local listings, TMCnet reported.

“The sites represent a way for advertisers to reach a local and targeted audience on a mobile device,” the company said in a statement.

Cox Newspapers, a subsidiary of Atlanta-based Cox Enterprises Inc., owns 17 daily and 26 non-daily U.S. newspapers.
