The International Herald Tribune on Tuesday announced plans to expand in India, through a partnership with a Indian business newspaper publisher Deccan Chronicle Holdings.
The IHT said it will create a branded business section in Deccan's Financial Chronicle, a version of the Business Asia with Reuters section.
The new section will begin June 20, according to IHT.com.
Deccan publishes the fourth-largest English-language daily in India, The Deccan Chronicle, which was recently launched on April 16 in Hyderabad, Madras and Bangalore.
"This is a very exciting development for the IHT in a market that has tremendous potential for us," said Stephen Dunbar-Johnson, the publisher of the IHT, in a statement.
"As we expand The Financial Chronicle's distribution to New Delhi and Mumbai, we could not have asked for a better partner than the IHT to provide the international business dimension," according to the chairman of Deccan Chronicle Holdings T.Venkattram Reddy.
To promote the new section, Deccan Chronicle Holdings will launch extensive marketing activities in Mumbai, New Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chennai, such as billboard, television and print advertising.
The IHT will sell international advertising in the new section, according to AOL Money & Finance.
