Adobe Systems plans to improve its Media Player by adding a new interface and signing a deal that will allow Adobe software users to watch movies from Sony Pictures.
The Adobe Media Player 1.1 screen lets users watch more video shows, due to an interface update Monday, Cnet reported.
Users will be able to watch full-length movies on the Media Player, including some 600 shows and 25,000 separate episodes. They may also have a chance to choose favourite categories and subscribe to RSS video feeds, Cnet reported.
Content providers can access the player for free and are able to change whether the content is available as streaming video or whether it has to be saved to users' hard drives.
They can also choose which ads to show up and whether they are in the frame around the video content or inside the video itself. Ads that cannot be skipped may also be embedded into the content, according to Cnet.
A percentage of the advertising revenue is to be taken by Adobe.
