Total revenue for the publishing and broadcasting arm of U.S. media group Journal Communications, Inc. was down 6.4 percent for the sixth period ending June 29, Market Watch reported Tuesday.
Revenue that period was at US$42.75 million, down from $45.69 million in the sixth period last year.
Advertising revenues at the Milwaukee, Wis.-based Journal Communications for the sixth period this year were down 8.4 percent, to $36.07 million, compared to $39.39 million the same period in 2007, Market Watch reported.
For the publishing division only, revenues at daily and community newspapers and circulars were at $23.22 million, down 8.6 percent from the same time last year, when they were at $25.41 million. Ad revenue contributed to this drop, as it was down 13.5 percent, to $16.53 million in the sixth period, compared to $19.11 million last year.
However, circulation revenue was up, but only slightly, at 0.2 percent, to $5.02 million. Additional revenue was also up, increasing 28.3 percent over last year, to $1.66 million, according to Market Watch.
