Washington Post Co. acquires Miami's WTVJ

The Washington Post Co. will buy Miami-based television station WTVJ, from NBC Universal, the South Florida Business Journal reported Friday.

Washington Post Co. subsidiary Post-Newsweek Stations will run WTVJ as an NBC affiliate, similar to the way that it runs WPLG, Miami's ABC affiliate.

Although the sale must still get a Federal Communications Commission approval, it is expected to go through by the end of this year, South Florida Business Journal reported.

Other TV stations that the Washington Post Co. owns include San Antonio's KSAT (NBC), Houston's KPRC (NBC), Orlando's WKMG (CBS) and the independent WJXT from Jacksonville.
