Associated Newspapers has launched E-Metro, the first electronic version of the UK free national newspaper Metro, Brand Republic reported Monday.
E-Metro launched Sunday, and is available on the newspaper's Web site, allowing readers to view a copy of the newspaper online.
Readers can also subscribe to the e-edition, and will be sent an e-mail each day linking them to the day's edition through Yudu Media, a publishing system, Mad.co.uk reported.
“e-Metro combines the strengths of digital publishing, the familiarity of our newspaper format and a simple delivery method to provide readers with a convenient new way of enjoying our quality content,” said Stuart Wood, operations director of Metro, according to Brand Republic.
Users can view the print edition online, as well as print, zoom and search for text, as well as save the digital version to their computer to read while not on the Internet, Brand Republic reported.
“This is an important step for Metro and Yudu as well as for newspapers as a whole,” said Richard Stephenson, chief executive of Yudu Media, according to Mad.co.uk.
