News Corporation is looking to invest US$100 million to launch six regional TV channels in India, Rupert Murdoch announced Monday, The Australian reported.

The launch will happen in the next 12 months, Murdoch said at a news conference.

Additionally, News Corp. isn't planning to buy any equity-stake purchases in local daily newspapers in India, Murdoch said, according to The Australian.

“I'm guessing the investments will be in the region of $US100 million ($107 million) and we will launch within 12 months,” said Murdoch, according to The Australian.
