Newspapers have once again regained their place as the largest division in Rupert Murdoch's News Corp., making up more than 20 percent of total revenues in the last quarter, ending in June, the Herald Sun has reported Thursday.
The Wall Street Journal becoming part of News Corp. is the main reason for the division's growth, and contributed US$24 million in operating income last quarter, and $45 million for the year.
Newspapers contributed $2 billion to the News Corp. media empire last quarter, while key electronic media divisions, such as films, TV cable networks (mainly Fox News) and satellite TV (such as Sky Italia), contributed between $1 billion to $1.5 billion, according to the Herald Sun.
All divisions at News Corp. increasing operating income from quarter to quarter, except for the films division, the Herald Sun reported.
