Hungary's leading free newspaper has changed its name from Metro to Metropol beginning today, Realdeal.hu reported Thursday.
The newspaper, which has been in Hungary for 10 years, had to change its name after losing a lawsuit brought on by a news chain with the same name.
The paper had discussed changing its name in the past, due to the public confusing it with the subway system in Budapest. Metro is published in 21 countries, and each local publisher may decide on a name for the local franchise, according to Realdeal.hu.
The only change at the newspaper will be its name, and everything else – layout, profile, quality and distribution – will remain the same, Péter Hivatal, president of Metro in Hungary, told Világgazdaság, Realdeal.hu reported.
