Malaysian firm Stanton Technologies Sdn Bhd announced it will use its technology at this year's Beijing Olympics for the telephone company China Mobile, by broadcasting the games to its 400 million subscribers and Internet users around the globe.
"The launch of 3G services in 10 cities ahead of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games has jump-started mobile TV in China and 15 million new users are expected to use it to access the various sporting events," said Sheikh Sultan Al Qasimi, Stanton chairman.
Stanton's Movaio Pte, based in Singapore, and China Teleformation Culture Media Company (CNLive.com) struck a deal enabling the firm to offer mobile TV services to China Mobile, the largest Chinese mobile phone operator, iStockAnalyst reported.
China Mobile's subscribers will have access to Video On Demand (VOD) and Movaio's Internet protocol television (IPTV) mobile content like news, entertainment and games from CNLive.com.
