Belfast Telegraph launches weekend magazine

The Belfast Telegraph has launched a new weekend lifestyle magazine, which hits newsstands today, the Telegraph reported.

The 64-page Weekend supplement is a first for Northern Ireland, with celebrity and fashion features, as well as restaurant reviews, travel, gardening, cooking and health features. Famous writers, such as novelist Carlo Gebler and Frances A. Burscough, will contribute as columnists each week.

The supplement is a new step for the newspaper, reflecting social change happening in the country, said Gail Walker, features editor, who is in charge of Weekend.

“Lifestyle is not something that's confined to a social class. It applies to everyone and we have something for everyone and we are proud of that fact. It reflects the self-confidence of Northern Ireland,” she said, according to the Telegraph.

Martin Lindsay, editor of the Telegraph, said the new magazine is “the best product we have ever produced in terms of supplements ... It is a quality product and it does complete the line-up of a string of supplements we produce every week in Northern Ireland. It is the best, professional, classy supplement we have ever produced.”
