Google finally landed a deal with NBC Universal on TV ads, paidContent reported Monday.
According to this multi-year partnership between the GE media unit and Google, NBC Universal will use Google TV Ads to sell national ad inventory for several of its cable networks, including Sci-Fi, Oxygen, MSNBC, CNBC, Sleuth, and Chiller but not Bravo or USA.
The two companies will share all ad revenue. “Advertisers will have access to viewership data at an unprecedented scale and the ability to make real-time adjustments,” according to the companies.
According to paidContent, the agreement also includes:
- Working together to adapt Google TV Ads for local markets.
- Possible expansion to other NBC Universal properties.
- The right for NBC Universal “to set parameters” for the purchase of ad time.
- NBC Universal and Google will collaborate on custom marketing and research projects for Google TV Ads.
- Access for NBC Universal to advertisers using Google AdWords.
Google TV Ads serve targeted ads using set top boxes. So far, it is still niche in the market as only the DISH network and a California cable system are on board. NBC Universal's involvement would help on its awareness, paidContent reported.
