Northcliffe Media claims strong growth for regional news sites

Northcliffe Media released audited traffic data for 10 of its network of regional news Web sites, claiming three million unique users in January and a growth of 45 percent year on year, The Guardian reported.

The network sites named “This is…” cover local news from the company's newspapers around the country.

Thisisnottingham.co.uk was the most popular Northcliffe site, with 318,367 monthly unique users between April and June. Thisishull.co.uk followed with 230,777 unique users. Thisislincolnshire.co.uk lagged behind with the smallest audience of 120,293 unique users on a monthly basis.

Northcliffe Media, the owner of the Daily Mail, will “provide Web site date to the Audit Bureau of Circulations Electronic so that print circulation and online traffic can be published simultaneously in a group product report,” The Guardian reported.

The audit will cover 20 “This is…” sites from January to June next year, and will eventually include all of Northcliffe's major urban and regional sites in the future.

According to marketing director Sean Mahon, "these individual sites ABCe figures are the next stage of an ongoing process to provide transparency on our online reach," The Guardian reported.
