CBS CEO Leslie Moonves said buying technology network CNET gave the company an important spot in the digital sphere from being an “old media” outlet, reported Wired.com.
“We could build over the course of a decade, or buy CNET and become instantaneously a major player,” said Moonves.
Moonves intends to make his firm a “one-stop” source for news and information. He mentioned that broadcasting content across different platforms might be “a plus”, according to Wired.com.
“One of the advantage of the Internet is we're taking money away from the newspapers,” he said. “The future of the internet is as a lab for the network.”
