The BBC reported that its iPlayer content will be available to more mobile devices after it resolved DRM (Digital Rights Management) concerns. Its shows may now be viewed anywhere, but for a limited period of time, probably up to about 30 days, Tech Radar reported Tuesday.
The media outlet has made a deal with technology and licensing firms CMLA, Core Media and Intertrust so that it can use OMA DRM 2.0, a rights management feature for mobile platforms.
However, Apple iPhone and iPod users would not be allowed to keep BBC content on their devices because Apple does not license DRM to others or support the OMA DRM 2.0 system, according to Tech Radar.
